How to get your chemicals onboard

Because there is no possibility to ship all the chemicals needed with our equipment from Europe to Central America, our colleagues from Harvard University joining us for this cruise were helping out. Thanks to them we only had to send them a shopping list and they took care of the ordering and delivery to Puerto Rico where the ship was loaded in April. I am extremely grateful to Jennifer and Jessica for all the work they did for us. We already were informed that everything is on board and where is should be – frozen chemicals in the freezers, cooled chemicals in the refrigerator and other chemicals stored at room temperature. Lots of paperwork involved in this, including the very important hazardous material list we needed to write for the ship, providing also the material safety data sheets for each chemical.
